The Speaking Coach
LSB Tchg, BSocSci, BSocSci (Hons), MEP
My background is as a senior policy advisor in local government. I also have governance experience as a member of various committees and Boards for non-profit organisations/groups.
With Public speaking being part of my role, it has made me a comfortable and competent presenter. This allows me to comfortably present to boards, senior management teams, council committees, and large audiences. I am still learning new things all the time that enhance my own skills and performance.
I specialise in mentoring and coaching others in public speaking. I have completed specialist training in teaching public speaking and communication, so you can be assured of a professional standard of coaching. I am also a member of the Speech Communication Association of NZ where I must observe the Professional Code of Conduct of the Association.
I established The Speaking Coach to help individuals, and groups gain the skills and confidence they need to become effective speakers. I work with people who are being held back by a fear of public speaking or want to improve their verbal communication skills. With my one-to-one coaching you can reach your personal and career goals faster. I know for some people starting public speaking training can be daunting. Be assured, I am here to help you!
My aim is to equip you with life-long skills so you have the opportunity to go as far as you want.
I get huge satisfaction from seeing the relief, satisfaction, and even joy that people experience when they complete coaching with me and reflect on the progress they have made.
Licentiate Diploma in Teaching Public Speaking and Communication – With Distinction (LSB Tchg)
The Licentiate Diploma is a NZ qualification that provides recognition of my professional competency in the teaching of Public Speaking & Communication. I was awarded the Licentiate Diploma with Distinction in recognition of the ‘exceptionally high standard’ of my work. This professional qualification gives me the knowledge and skills to help you towards speaking success.
Completion of the Licentiate Diploma involved demonstrating practical teaching skills and theoretical knowledge. For theory examinations the standard required is Bachelor Degree equivalent. This involved academic study on topics such as the anatomy and physiology of voice, vocal fitness, history of oratory, communication within groups, genres of speeches and their delivery, leadership development, teaching ethics, modern learning theories and more!
